Tintbionic® HAMA

HAMA is a methacrylated analog of hyaluronic acid. The precursor is non-animal sodium hyaluronate obtained through biotechnological processing (Streptococcus equi susp. zooepidemicus). Hyaluronic acid is an important structural component of many tissues in living organisms, and in this case, its structural role also contributes to the hydrodynamics of tissues, cell movement and proliferation, and participates in a range of interactions with receptors on the cell surface. The presence of methacryloyl groups allows the material to be crosslinked under UV/Vis light in the presence of a photoinitiator such as LAP. HAMA can be used as a mixture with other methacrylates. The degree of methacrylation is determined based on 1H NMR analysis.
