Tintbionic® GELMA-G

GELMA-G (glycidyl methacrylate modified gelatin) is a versatile structural biomaterial used in 3D bioprinting. The presence of methacryloyl groups allows the material to be crosslinked under UV/Vis light in the presence of a photoinitiator such as LAP. In terms of biochemical properties, this bioink precursor is similar to the basic version of methacrylated gelatin – GELMA. However, after the crosslinking reaction, it has a significant advantage by having much larger pore sizes in the hydrogel network. This property leads to better cell proliferation without inhibiting their growth in the hydrogel. GELMA-G is also highly biocompatible, facilitates cell adhesion, and improves diffusion in both two-dimensional and three-dimensional cell cultures.
