CleanCure™ CM3X

Active core of the platform • 365 nm activation • Photoinitiator-free crosslinking

CleanCure™ CM3X is the foundational component of the CleanCure™ series, designed as the active core of a light-activated hydrogel platform operating at 365 nm. CM3X is a gelatin derivative functionalized with coumaric acid (coumarin-3), which absorbs UV light, transitions into an excited state, and initiates localized crosslinking through a [2+2] photocycloaddition mechanism — without the need for photoinitiators.

In practice, CM3X functions as a chromophore-as-linker system: it captures photons and redirects their energy into crosslinking reactions. This enables high spatial selectivity (curing restricted to illuminated regions) and supports the design of hybrid formulations enriched with CleanCure™ functional additives. CM3X serves as a versatile base for developing materials with programmable stiffness, viscosity, and gelation dynamics depending on the selected hybrid module.
